Box Score After playing well in a hard-fought double overtime loss to Penn St. Harrisburg on Tuesday, the Lancaster Bible women's soccer team was not only looking to play well again, but to earn a victory too. Despite not playing as well, the Chargers did earn a victory on Friday as they took down Morrisville State, 2-1.
Bethany Stein and
Evelyn Stauffer each scored for the Chargers who improved to 10-5 overall and 7-2 in NEAC play. Freshman
Alyssa Wesner assisted on Stauffer's goal in which Stauffer put home her second goal of the year on a great cross by Wesner. After Stauffer's goal in the 73rd minute, the game remained 2-0 before the Mustangs' Bailey Rutan scored with six minutes to play to cut the deficit on one.
LBC was able to hold off Morrisville State (7-6, 5-4 NEAC) in the final minutes and inch closer to securing at least the number three seed in the upcoming NEAC playoffs. Being the third seed would give the Chargers one more home game at the end of the season as they would host the sixth seed on Saturday, Nov. 2.
"We are still a little inconsistent in our play for the entire 90 minutes, Chargers Head Coach
Ken Craul said. "I thought both of our goals were high quality goals and we worked hard for them."
The Chargers outshot the Mustangs, 22-12, including 18-4 in the second half and held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
LBC will face Cazenovia on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. as they look to continue their strong play as the regular season winds down.Â
