Swarthmore Blanks Lancaster Bible, 6-0

Box Score After winning two straight games, the Lancaster Bible women's soccer team fell back to Earth on Wednesday night as Swarthmore scored 19 seconds into the game and cruised from there as they defeated the Chargers, 6-0.

Swarthmore's Megan Brock scored twice, while Emma Sindelar added three assists.

Chargers goalkeeper Kaitlyn Scheuing made 16 saves, a career high and the most by an LBC goalkeeper since Kirsten Shoemaker made 20 saves against Goucher on Sept. 4, 2009.

"Kaitlyn played a great game for us and made some very difficult saves," Chargers Head Coach Ken Craul said.

The early goal was the second time the Chargers have given up a goal in the first minute of play this season. Alvernia scored 38 seconds into the game in LBC's season opener on Sept. 4.

"We can't keep giving up goals early in the game to quality opponents," Craul said. "They exposed some of the areas we need to improve on and Swarthmore is just a very skilled team and well disciplined."

Swarthmore outshot the Chargers, 44-4. Last year they outshot LBC, 33-3.

With two tough non-conference opponents to use as learning experiences for the rest of the season, the Chargers now turn their attention to the NEAC over the next three weeks, with just one non-conference game mixed in against Baptist Bible next Thursday. Six of LBC's next seven games are against NEAC opponents including a rematch of last season NEAC Final against Penn St. Berks on Sept. 23 in Lancaster.

LBC (2-2, 1-0 NEAC) will wrap-up their five-game road trip on Sunday when they take on SUNYIT at 3 p.m. in Utica, N.Y.
