Chargers to Join CSAC for Field Hockey

Lancaster Bible College, in conjunction with the Lancaster Bible College Athletic Department is pleased to announce that it has accepted associate membership to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) in the sport of field hockey beginning with the 2019 season.

Lancaster Bible will join Bryn Athyn, Cedar Crest, Centenary, Keystone, Notre Dame (Md.), and Wilson as participating members in field hockey. The Chargers, along with the other six teams, will compete for the CSAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Tournament, and will also be able to win CSAC weekly and season awards.

"We are ever vigilant to seek opportunities for our scholar athletes to further their life and athletic skill development, on and off the field," Lancaster Bible President Dr. Peter W. Teague said. "To that end, we are so pleased to be included in the CSAC for our field hockey program. It represents a good move for our young women, and a good step forward for Lancaster Bible College."

The Chargers, who ended a 33-year field hockey absence by bringing back the sport for the 2018 season, played in the North Eastern Athletic Conference this past season, but will change to the CSAC beginning next year.

Lancaster Bible Director of Athletics Pete Beers echoed Dr. Teague's statement, and is excited for the Chargers to begin play in the CSAC.

"We appreciate the invitation from the CSAC to take part as an associate member for field hockey, and we are excited for our student-athletes to play in a conference that gives them a traditional student-athlete experience, where they compete in a regular season and play for an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament," Beers said.

Lancaster Bible went 0-13 in its return to field hockey in 2018, but with a young squad, lost three of their games by two goals or less.
