The Lancaster Bible College men's tennis team concluded the finest season in program history in style on Friday, as the Chargers secured the first two North Eastern Athletic Conference Individual Championships in the program's history, as
Ming Bowser won the NEAC Flight No. 4 Singles Championship, and
Yancy Butler and
Derice Butler took home the NEAC Flight No. 3 Doubles Championship. In addition to the wins on the court, Lancaster Bible Men's Tennis Head Coach
Darren Rowles was named NEAC Coach of the Year, becoming the first tennis coach in Lancaster Bible history to earn the award.

How it Happened: Bowser kept his final season in a Lancaster Bible uniform going in style, as he defeated Phil Beloserkovsky of Penn St. Abington, 6-2, 6-2 in the semifinals, and then defeated Louay Qubain of Penn St. Berks, 6-3, 6-1 to win the Flight No. 4 Singles title. Bowser is now 11-3 overall, including 7-2 at No. 4 singles.

The Butler brothers breezed to their No. 3 doubles crown, as they defeated Sneh Patel and Jacob Metzger of Penn St. Berks, 8-1, and then took down Sebastian Krysztofow and Beloserkovsky of Penn St. Abington, 8-2 to secure the title. The Butler brothers are now a perfect 11-0 record in doubles play, as they continue to be the only doubles team in Lancaster Bible history to have this many wins and still own a perfect record.

Because of their victories, Bowser and the Butler brothers earned NEAC All-Conference First Team honors, becoming the first Lancaster Bible players to earn First Team honors.

Luke Newberry, Lancaster Bible's No. 1 player, dropped his semifinal match in the Flight No. 1 tournament, 3-6, 7-6 (5), 10-7 to Diego Olazagasti of Penn St. Berks, but rebounded to defeat Lesly Cruz-Munoz of St. Elizabeth, 8-0. With the win, Newberry was named to the NEAC All-Conference Third Team.

Following his doubles victory,
Yancy Butler dropped his Flight No. 3 semifinal match, 7-5, 6-4, but earned an 8-3 win over Phillip Antonoff of Penn St. Abington to claim the consolation match, and earn NEAC All-Conference Third Team honors in singles play.

Keven Vallette was upset in his Flight No. 5 semifinal by Jose Palomeque, 4-6, 7-5, 10-5 in a tight match, but rebounded to win his consolation match, 8-4, and claim NEAC All-Conference Third Team honors.

Finally,
Derice Butler fell, 6-3, 6-3 to top-seeded Joseph Morrin of Penn College, but defeated George Vega of St. Elizabeth, 8-7 (7-3) to win the consolation match, and like his brother, Yancy, Newberry, and Vallette, earn NEAC All-Conference Third Team honors.

Elsewhere in doubles action, the No. 1 doubles team from Lancaster Bible, made up of Newberry and Vallette, lost their semifinal match, 8-4, but won the consolation match, 8-5 over a team from St. Elizabeth. The No. 2 team of
Tyler Norris and Bowser lost in their semifinal match, 8-6, and dropped a tough match, 8-6 in consolation match to a team from Penn St. Berks.

Information Hodge Podge: Newberry is now 9-5 in singles play this season, while Vallette is 9-3…This is the most players the Chargers have ever had earn NEAC All-Conference honors.
