How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College baseball team could not hold on to a ninth inning lead, falling to Oberlin by a score of 8-7 on Sunday, March 13.
The Chargers (3-6 Overall) grabbed an early lead, striking in the top of the first inning.
Brian Coburn led off the game with a single through the left side. Coburn worked his way over to third base, eventually scoring on an error. Oberlin tied the game at one in the third inning and then used a five run fifth inning to grab a 6-1 lead and control of the game.
LBC started to rally back in the top of the eighth inning. Coburn led off with a double to left field, eventually moving over to third on a wild pitch. Coburn then capitalized on a throwing error, plating the Chargers second run of the game.
Blake Greenly worked one of his three walks and advanced to third on a single by
Ethan Varricchione.
Harrison Madagan hit a hard ground ball on the right side, allowing Greenly to score and pull LBC back within three.
The rally continued in the ninth inning. After
Mark Cullins and
Logan Kline worked walks and
Jacob Stolte got hit by a pitch to load the bases, Coburn launched a triple off the center field fence, tying the game at six. Coburn eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Madagan, giving LBC a 7-6 lead going into the bottom of the ninth inning. The Yeomen responded scoring two runs in the inning to pick up the 8-7 win.

How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College baseball team responded from their game one loss, winning game two against MCLA by a score of 11-1.
The Chargers (4-6 Overall) got rolling in the bottom of the first inning after
Adam Naylor worked a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch.
Harrison Hobdy then smacked a single, allowing Naylor to score. Hobdy capitalized on a couple of wild pitches, scoring to give LBC a 2-0 lead.
The Chargers extended the lead in the bottom of the second inning.
Andrew Kidder singled to left and then
Daniel Navarro also singled to left field to put two runners on base. LBC perfectly executed a double steal and on an error by the catcher, Kidder scored.
Daniel Yoder then smacked a single into center field scoring Navarro to put LBC ahead 4-0. Later in the inning, Hobdy hit a single to second base, scoring Yoder.
With the big lead,
Andrew Workman kept the Trailblazers (2-5 Overall) off balance, holding them to one run in six innings of action, while picking up 12 strikeouts.
Thade Hauge led off the third inning with a triple, scoring on a sacrifice fly from Kidder, taking a 6-0 lead. LBC kept scoring in the bottom of the fourth inning, loading the bases and scoring three more runs on three hits, taking a 9-0 lead. The Chargers allowed one run in the top of the fifth, but kept MCLA from making a run, winning 11-1.
