The Lancaster Bible Cross Country teams traveled to nearby Lebanon for the Last Chance Run Fast Invitational hosted by Lebanon Valley College. The women finished fourth out of eleven teams and the men finished sixth out of fifteen teams. The Chargers will return to action next Saturday, October 28th when they travel to Cairn University in Langhorne, Pa for the United East Championships.
Men's Results
It was a familiar scene when senior
Mitchell Gray crossed the line first for the Chargers on Friday evening. Gray crossed the line in a time of 26:32.55 to earn the sixth-place finish out of 142 runners.. It is Gray's new season best time, which could serve as a sign that Gray is gearing up for the coming postseason. Continuing with this season's patterns,
Daniel Lefko and
Adam Horning were the next two Lancaster Bible runners to cross the line and they did so within seconds of each other. Lefko finished in 48th with a final time of 28:58.54 while Horning was only five seconds behind, crossing in 29:03.18 to earn 50th.
The next three Chargers to cross the line all did so in new personal best times.
Alex McWilliams finished in a time of 30:15.14, bettering his personal best of 31:06.4.
Jaden Royal added a 27 second PR, crossing in a time of 32:20.57. Rounding out the three was
Ryan Barthelemy who ran a two and a half minute personal best time on Friday evening. He crossed the line in a time of 33:14.00.
Mark Wright crossed the line in a time of 36:10.58 while
Dustin Frantz added a minute PR crossing in a time of 37:19.63 to beat his previous best of 38:26.6. As a team, Lancaster Bible finished sixth overall out of fifteen teams. The top five were Navy, DeSales, Lebanon Valley, Elizabethtown, and Hagerstown Community College.
Women's Results
Dana Keller led the way for the Chargers with a 10th place finish out of 90 runners on Friday afternoon. She crossed the line in a time of 24:37.87.
Lydia Talbott and
Lydia Goodling were the next two to cross for Lancaster Bible, both earning new personal bests on the day. Talbott ran 27:25.67 and Goodling finished in a time of 28:29.29 for a minute and fifteen second PR.
Adding two more personal bests were
Jurnee Acosta and
Rosa Johnson. Acosta crossed in a time of 30:14.03 and she was followed by Johnson in a time of 31:47.59. The top five women's teams were Navy, Stevenson, Mt. Saint Mary's, Lancaster Bible, and Gwynedd-Mercy.
Coach
Katy Latta shared that following a weather delay for lightning, the course was muddy and slippery but the Chargers were still able to run fast.
As mentioned, the cross country teams will return to action on Saturday, October 28th, when they travel to Langhorne, Pa. for the United East Championships hosted by Cairn University.
