Women’s Volleyball Opens Conference Play with Win

The Lancaster Bible College Women's Volleyball team kicked off United East play on Tuesday night, racing to a 3-0 sweep of Valley Forge. The Chargers improve to 14-4 overall and 1-0 in conference play while the Patriots fall to 2-9 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
 
How it Happened:
There was never any doubt about set one as the Chargers scored the first 19 points of the set, with freshman Madison Reap landing a career-high nine service aces on 20 consecutive serves. Several Chargers sprinkled in kills throughout, with back-to-back aces from sophomore Lea Sareyka helping end the set 25-4. Set two was more of the same, seeing the Chargers grab an 11-1 lead early on. Freshman Maggie Kwiatkowski knocked her first career kill, tallying three in the set as the Chargers cruised to a 25-5 win. Set three saw an 8-0 start from LBC with four aces from sophomore Tessa Kwiatkowski, with seniors Crystal Lenk and Emma Shaeffer adding aces and kills to the mix. Freshman Kate Unger led a six-point run with two aces, then after a few Patriot points in a row, the Chargers wrapped up the match 25-9 with a 3-0 sweep to open up conference play.
 
By the Numbers:
- The Chargers dominated with 24 kills to the Patriots' nine and a season-high 26 service aces
- Maggie Kwiatkowski had a team-leading five kills for the Chargers
- Tessa Kwiatkowski tied her season-high with 10 assists
- Madison Reap had a whopping nine service aces, all coming in the first set
- The Patriots were led by Telia Robinson with four kills
 
Information to Know:
The Chargers are now 22-11 all-time against Valley Forge with 16 consecutive wins over the Patriots dating back to 2008. The Chargers have now won three straight conference openers. Lancaster Bible landed 26 aces in tonight's game, the second-most aces in a single match in program history. Freshman Madison Reap's nine service aces are tied for the fourth-most in a single match by any player and the most in a match since 2010.
