Chargers Sweep Ravens, Improve to 5-0 in Conference

The Lancaster Bible College Women's Volleyball team won their season-best sixth straight game on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 win over Rosemont. The Chargers improve to 18-4 overall and remain perfect in United East play at 5-0, while the Ravens fall to 2-16 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
 
How it Happened:
The Chargers started hot with the first four points of the first set, capped off by an ace from freshman Madison Reap. The Ravens battled throughout the middle of the set, keeping the deficit within three points. The Chargers took five of the last six points in the set to close it out 25-17 with a block from sophomore Lea Sareyka and an ace from senior Leah Helman.
 
The second set was all Chargers from the beginning with a 10-0 run featuring two kills from Sareyka and four aces from Reap. Another spurt of six points helped secure the set as junior Riley Dodrer landed a kill and Reap closed out the set 25-10 with another service ace.
 
Rosemont showed some life in set three as they took a 5-2 lead, but the Chargers got right back to business with six straight points behind two aces from senior Emma Shaeffer. Lancaster Bible cruised through the rest, winning 10 of the next 12 points to close out the Ravens 25-12 and stay unbeaten in conference play.
 
By the Numbers:
- The Chargers crushed Rosemont in service aces 15-6 and held the Ravens to no blocks while the Chargers had five
- Lea Sareyka led the Chargers with a game-high 11 kills
- Madeline Reed had 14 assists and Emma Shaeffer had 10 assists
- Leah Helman had a game-high 17 digs and added two aces
- Madison Reap landed a game-high eight aces while adding eight digs and seven kills
- The Ravens were led by Madeline McCarthy with six kills and eight digs

Information to Know:
The Chargers are now 2-0 all-time against Rosemont, with their other win coming in October of 2006. The Chargers have won a season-high six straight games and have won six in a row in back-to-back seasons. Lancaster Bible and Gallaudet are the last two undefeated teams in United East play this year with a head-to-head matchup set for this Tuesday in D.C. Sophomore Jessica Fletcher became the 27th player in program history to record 1,000 total attacks as a Charger, finishing the day with 1,001 total attacks as a hitter. Freshman Madison Reap sits at second in the conference with 60 total aces and 0.75 aces per set, recording eight aces today for the second time this season. Senior Leah Helman moved into a tie for fourth place all-time in service aces with 182, landing two in tonight's game.
