Men’s Volleyball Falls to Third-Ranked Knights

The Lancaster Bible College Men's Volleyball team lost a road match against #3 Southern Virginia in straight sets on Saturday afternoon, their final ranked opponent of the regular season. The Chargers fall to 5-13 overall while the Knights remain perfect at 20-0 overall and 4-0 in the CVC.

How it Happened: The Knights grabbed an early lead before Dawson Forney had the first kill of the game for the Chargers as they trailed 5-2. SVU kept pulling ahead despite kills from Forney and Jordan Yoder, leading by as many as 11 in the set. LBC relied mostly on Knight errors for points in set one, dropping it 25-15.

The second set featured three ties early as Yoder landed a kill to make it a 4-4 game. Nicholas Marion and Christian Herr had service aces to keep the score within one, but Southern Virginia opened it up with 14 of the next 19 points to finish off set two 25-15.

Southern Virginia started set three with a 6-1 run before Craig Patrick knocked a kill to halt the run. Freshman Jaiden Flanagan recorded his first career kill to make it 8-5 SVU, then Carson Hoover followed suit with his first kill to keep it a three-point contest. The Chargers pulled within one point four times in the set, capitalizing on some Knight errors with Jake Rotelle landing a kill off a timeout. Despite another kill each from Patrick and Flanagan, Southern Virginia saw the sweep through with a 25-17 set win.
