The United East Conference released their weekly award winners for last week on Monday afternoon, with the Chargers earning two honors as Softball swept the week, with senior
Maddison Atkins earning Pitcher of the Week and freshman
Kendall Jackman earning Player of the Week. This is the third career weekly honor for Atkins and second consecutive this season while Jackman earns her first career weekly honor.

Atkins once again took the spotlight in the circle for the Chargers this week, earning a 2-0 record as the Chargers improved to 6-0 in conference play and went 4-0 on the week with four home victories. Maddison pitched 12.0 scoreless innings for the week, throwing a 7.0-inning shutout in a 6-0 win over Keystone on Tuesday and a 5.0-inning shutout on Friday in a 16-0 win over Valley Forge, striking out 10 total batters including tying a season-high with nine against the Patriots. Maddie has now pitched 25 1/3 innings straight without allowing an earned run, setting a program record for most consecutive innings pitched without allowing an earned run and topping Kelsey Collins' streak of 23.0 innings without an earned run set back in 2016. Atkins currently leads the United East with eight total wins and is eighth in the conference in season ERA at 2.91, ranking seventh in the conference in strikeouts with 40.

Jackman earned her first career weekly honor as she filled the stat sheet this week, totaling eight hits on 8-13 in four games with six RBI and eight runs scored. Kendall had five extra-base hits this week, including two doubles, two triples, and her first career home run on a leadoff inside-the-parker on Tuesday against Keystone. Jackman totaled a 1.308 weekly OPS and a .600 on-base percentage, leading the team this season by reaching base at a 50% clip so far. Jackman also stole two bases this week and leads the Chargers this season with 12 total steals. Kendall is batting for a .411 average in her first season with a 1.107 OPS and 23 hits, including seven extra-base hits and a team-high 22 runs scored. The Chargers are 6-0 in conference and 4-0 at home for the first time in program history, and the play of both Atkins and Jackman this week are some of the driving factors.
Â
Atkins, Jackman, and the rest of the Softball team have a pair of road double-headers this week, first against Stevenson in non-conference play on Thursday, April 9 at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Then, the Chargers travel to take on Penn St. Abington in United East action on Saturday, April 11 at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. as Lancaster Bible looks to remain unbeaten in conference play.
