Heading into their first game of the season on Tuesday, the Lancaster Bible College women's lacrosse team had practiced outside a grand total of once. And that was not even on a grass field, it was the pavement outside of Horst Athletic Center. Needless to say, they are looking forward to the snow melting.
The Chargers lost their 2010 opener to Hood College on Tuesday, 21-3, in Fredrick, Maryland.
Freshman
Mercedes Collins scored her first two collegiate goals, while
Kirsten Fuller had the other LBC goal.
"There is obviously things we have to work on, but once we get outside I think we will improve on those things," Chargers' Head Coach Jess Creeden said.
Despite the loss, the Chargers committed less turnovers than the Blazers (1-1) and collected four more ground balls.
"It was a good first game," Creeden said. "There were certainly some positives out there."
Hood was led by Kelsey Blackwell's four goals and three assists. Lauren Perzan added a goal and five assists.
LBC (0-1) is back in action on Friday when they face Lebanon Valley College at 3:45 p.m. Because of the snow, the game has been moved to The Net Sports Complex in Palmyra.
