The Lancaster Bible College women's lacrosse team needed to win their final two games to finish with a .500 record for the first time in team history. Thanks to Immaculata's Kacie O'Neill and Rebecca Whiteman, the Chargers will have to wait another year.
O'Neill and Whiteman each had six goals to lead the Mighty Macs past LBC, 14-11, on Wednesday in Immaculata, Pa.
Jenna Godwin led the Chargers with three goals, while
Whitney Heise,
Rebekah Weidel and
Kirsten Fuller each had two goals. Fuller's two goals give her 50 for her career at LBC. Freshman
Mercedes Collins had a goal and an assist in the loss.
"We came back a couple of times throughout the game, but it just wasn't enough," Chargers' Head Coach Jess Creeden said. "We turned the ball over way too much."
Despite the loss, Creeden said the team still played at a high level.
"This team [Immaculata] would have crushed us last season," Creeden said. "Our team this season has improved so much and their hard work is paying off."
The Chargers will wrap-up their 2010 season on Tuesday when they face Wilkes at 4:00 p.m.
"This season has been a success, but we want to finish strong and play well against Wilkes," Creeden said.
Notes:
-Weidel needs one goal to tie her LBC record of 28 she scored last season.
-Heise has 26 goals on the year, while Fuller's 25 are four better than her toal from last season.
