The Lancaster Bible College women's lacrosse team traveled to Camden, N.J. on Wednesday and lost, 20-11 to Rutgers-Camden.
Rebekah Weidel led the Chargers with five goals, while
Whitney Heise had three more to extend her team lead to 36 for the year.
Rachel Warren had two goals and
Ky-Leigh Hallman added one. Goalie
Erin Leonard made 10 saves for the Chargers, who lost for the second straight game after winning two straight.
Down 10-2 after an Amber Alexander goal with 8:10 left, the Chargers scored three straight goals to end the half, cutting the lead to 10-5. LBC (4-7) followed that up by scoring the opening goal of the second half to make it 10-6.
"I thought the way we played the last few minutes of the first half and the first couple of minutes of the second half showed lots of maturity on our part," Chargers' Head Coach Evelyn Long said. "We didn't get down on ourselves and worked hard to get back into the game."
Rutgers-Camden was too strong throughout the second half and eventually built a 15-6 lead. The Chargers cut it to 15-9, but that was as close as they would get the rest of the way.
"
Rebekah Weidel played very well today," Long said. "She was all over the field, contributing in lots of different areas."
The Chargers return to action on Monday when they travel to Wilkes-Barre, Pa. to take on King's College at 4 p.m.
