Chargers Drop Third Straight in Loss to King's

Whitney Heise scored 1:47 into Monday's game to give the Lancaster Bible College women's lacrosse team a 1-0 lead over host, King's College. Unfortunately for the Chargers, the next time they scored, they trailed, 14-1 and there was 13:57 left to play in the game.

The teams scored two more goals each and the Monarchs won, 16-4, sending LBC to their third straight defeat.

"We struggled defensively today," Chargers' Head Coach Evelyn Long said. "We knew what to do, we just struggled mentally today."

Heise scored twice for the Chargers, her 37th and 38th goals of the year, while Kirsten Fuller scored her 18th goal of the season. Bri Funk also scored for LBC, just her second goal of the year.

"Bri played very aggressively and was all over the field," Long said. "Her play led to her getting an 8 meter shot that she buried for a goal. It was great to see her put everything she has into the game for 60 minutes."

Goalie Erin Leonard made 11 saves for LBC. The Monarchs outshot the Chargers, 29-14 and won 17 draws to the Chargers, 5.

LBC will travel to Chambersburg, Pa. on Wednesday to take on Wilson at 4 p.m.
