Box Score The 2013 women's lacrosse season kicked off on Tuesday at Hood and Lancaster Bible continued the unfortunate trend of losing its season openers as they dropped to 0-7 all-time with a 21-6 loss to the Blazers.
Senior and all-time leading goal scorer
Whitney Heise had all six of LBC's goals and added 15 shots and seven draw controls.
Annie Hoover had two shots and four ground balls, while her sister
Ellie Hoover added a shot and three ground ball pickups.
After tying the game at 1-1 on Heise's first of the year, Hood scored nine of the next 10 goals to take a 10-2 lead with 13:38 remaining in the first half.
"I thought when we slowed the game down and were patient, things went well for us, but Hood's ability to go up and down the field gave us trouble all day," Chargers' Head Coach
Zach Freeman said. "I think we need to establish what we want to do rather than let teams do that to us. It will come with our players gaining more experience."
The Blazers (2-0) outshot the Chargers 36-19 and held a 31-26 edge in ground balls as well.
"I think as we gain more confidence in ourselves and understand how our team needs to play, we will work the kinks out," Freeman said. "The problems we had today are fixable and we will do our best to get them fixed before Saturday."
The Chargers take on Albright in Reading, Pa. on Saturday at 4 p.m.
