Warriors Topple Chargers

Box Score Coming off its first win of the season on Monday, the Lancaster Bible women's lacrosse team was looking to build on its momentum heading into conference play which begins after Easter break. Lycoming had other ideas and their quick-pace offense was too much for the Chargers as the Warriors won, 20-6 on Saturday at Charger Field.

Maureen Hagey had a career-high five goals for Lycoming, while Casey Maguire added three goals and three assists. Nine different players scored for the Warriors who improved to 3-4 this season.

The Chargers (1-4) were led by senior Whitney Heise's five goals, while Danielle Good scored her fifth goal of the year. Chargers' goalie Cheyenne Benson made 15 saves in goal as the Warriors peppered her with 35 shots on goal.

Chargers Head Coach Zach Freeman said while the Chargers played well at different points of the game, they need to work on consistency, specifically in the first half.

"We played well for a lot of today's game, but there are four and five minute spurts where it seems like we can't do anything," Freeman said. "It's great to play well in the second half and score some goals, but if we are already down by nine or 10 goals, it's hard to say how that is helping our cause."

Freeman said he was happy with the team's aggressiveness on Saturday, something the team worked on all week.

"I think we were aggressive on both sides of the field today," Freeman said. "I think offensively there is still room for improvement, but it was nice to see us want the ball and drive to the goal looking to score."

The Chargers are back in action on Tuesday when they host Arcadia at 4 p.m.
