Chargers Victorious in Home Finale

Box Score The Lancaster Bible women's lacrosse team concluded the home portion of its schedule on Tuesday with a 13-7 victory over an under-manned College of St. Elizabeth squad at Charger Field.

In her final game on Charger Field, LBC senior Whitney Heise had seven goals and an assist to lead LBC, while fellow senior Nicole Valinteno added three goals and an assist. Senior Kasha Kapp and juniors Ky-Leigh Hallman and Annie Hoover each added a goal as well for the Chargers who improved to 3-12 overall and 2-6 in NEAC play.

Playing with just 10 players, the Screaming Eagles kept it close in the first half and trailed just 6-5 at halftime. The Chargers were able to wear down St. Elizabeth in the second half, but not before the Screaming Eagles took a 7-6 lead with 20:04 to play on a goal by Cassidy Crane.

"We weren't good in those first 10 minutes of the second half," Chargers' Head Coach Zach Freeman said. "We let them have too much space and were awful on offense. We challenged the ladies during a timeout to regroup and reset their games and they were able to do just that thanks to our senior leadership."

Heise tied the game less than two minutes later and her sixth goal of the game just 19 seconds later gave LBC a lead they would not relinquish as they scored the game's final seven goals.

"I'm proud of the ladies," Freeman said. "They didn't have it for a while today, but they battled through and I thought our seniors (Heise, Valinteno, Kapp, Naomi Martin and Emily Lloyd) did a great job leading and keeping everyone going, even when things weren't going very well."

Chargers' goalie Cheyenne Benson made seven saves for her third win this season, while LBC had a season-high five assists during the game.

LBC's final game of the 2013 season is on Friday when they travel to Chambersburg, Pa. to take on Wilson at 4 p.m.
