Box Score Leading, 7-6 with just over four minutes to play, the Lancaster Bible women's lacrosse team couldn't hold the lead and Savannah Tucker's goal with 55 seconds to play gave Wells its first lead since early in the first half and the Express held off the Chargers one final time with 20 seconds to play to escape Lancaster with a North Eastern Athletic Conference win, 8-7.
The Chargers (1-7, 0-1 NEAC) led for much of the game as senior
Whitney Heise had six goals and an assist, while
Ky-Leigh Hallman also scored. In a game that featured 77 fouls (47-30 LBC), Wells was able to take advantage of their offensive chances better than the Chargers as the Express scored on eight of their 11 shots on goal.
"They made one more play than we did today," Chargers' Head Coach
Zach Freeman said. "We had chances we didn't capitalize on and I think we need to realize that those possessions midway through each half that may not seem important can come back and haunt you late in the game when you need a goal."
Tucker had five of Wells' eight goals, while Lexie Roberson had two and Marina Fargnoli scored once. LBC's
Cheyenne Benson made three saves, while the Express' Chelsea Dann stopped eight shots.
The Chargers are back in action on Saturday when the host Keuka at 1 p.m. LBC will honor its three seniors who have exhausted their athletic eligibility,
Whitney Heise,
Kasha Kapp and
Nicole Valinteno.
