Box Score A day after a losing a heartbreaker to Wells, 8-7, the Lancaster Bible women's lacrosse team showed how big its collective heart is and battled for 60 minutes against a stronger, quicker Keuka squad. The Storm, last season's NEAC runner-up, defeated the Chargers, 19-5 on Senior Day at Charger Field.
Senior
Whitney Heise had four goals for the Chargers, while
Ky-Leigh Hallman scored her fifth goal of the year, late in the second half. Chargers' goalie
Cheyenne Benson made 12 saves as LBC dropped to 1-8 overall and 0-2 in NEAC play.
"I'm so proud of the ladies effort today," Chargers' Head Coach
Zach Freeman said. "We were all drained from yesterday's loss, but they found extra energy and played their hardest for 60 minutes today. Obviously we want win and a win today would have gone a long way, but to know that we can put things behind us and move forward as a team is probably even a bigger step than winning a single game."
Keuka, which beat the Chargers, 18-5 last season, was led by Maggie Bonafede who had two goals and six assists.
Heise's four goals give her 37 for the season which is currently second in the NEAC.
The Chargers are back in action next weekend when they head to New York to take on SUNYIT on Friday and Medaille on Saturday.
