Strong Second Half Helps Lions Defeat Chargers

Box Score The Lancaster Bible women's lacrosse team fell to 0-6 this season as the Chargers lost to Bryn Athyn, 21-5 on Tuesday in Bryn Athyn, Pa. Hayley Schmucker had eight goals to pace the Lions who improved to 3-3 this season.

Lancaster Bible freshman Alyssa Wesner had three goals to lead the Chargers, while seniors Erin Railey and Emily Martz each scored once. The game was tied 2-2 nine minutes into the game, but the Lions scored the game's next six goals before Wesner scored with 9:30 to play in the opening half to make it 8-3. The score remained the same through halftime, but Bryn Athyn scored eight times in the first 16 minutes of the second half to take a commanding 16-3 lead.

Chargers' goalie Cheyenne Benson made 11 saves in the loss and picked up a team-high 15 ground balls. Wesner added four ground balls and four draw controls as well for the Chargers.

Lancaster Bible will open North Eastern Athletic Conference play this weekend as they host SUNYIT on Friday at 4 p.m. and Medaille on Saturday at 1 p.m.
