Box Score A day after falling 19-1 to SUNYIT, the Lancaster Bible women's lacrosse team played right with Medaille over the first 15 minutes of Saturday's contest. The Mavericks however proved why they made it the whole way to the North Eastern Athletic Conference Final last season and dominated the Chargers over the final 45 minutes of the game as Medaille won, 15-3 at Charger Field.
After Medaille took a 2-0 lead over the first few minutes of the game, Lancaster Bible's
Alyssa Wesner and
Annie Hoover scored back-to-back goals to knot the score at 2-2. Medaille began to control more and more of the play however and they finally connected on a goal midway through the first half that opened the flood gates. Though Hoover scored her second of the half with a couple of minutes remaining in the opening 30 minutes, the Chargers couldn't slow the Mavericks down for long as Medaille led 11-3 at halftime.
Medaille (3-4, 2-0 NEAC) scored just four times in the second half, but held the Chargers (0-8, 0-2 NEAC) off of the scoreboard completely. The Mavericks' Emily Brophy led all scorers with seven goals and three assists.
Lancaster Bible goalie
Cheyenne Benson made six saves in the loss. Hoover's goals were her fourth and fifth of the season, while Wesner had her sixth goal of the year.
The Chargers will play their final non-conference game of the season on Tuesday when they head to Immaculata, Pa. to face Immaculata at 4 p.m.
