Box Score Looking to sustain momentum from their first win of the season last Saturday, the Lancaster Bible women's lacrosse team fell short of that goal on Friday as they lost to Wells, 14-4 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play. The Express scored seven times in each half as they picked up their first win of the season.
Lancaster Bible freshman
Alyssa Wesner opened the scoring less than three minutes into the contest and the Chargers held that 1-0 lead until Wells scored with 20:26 remaining in the first half. The Express followed that up with a goal 18 seconds later to make it 2-1. Another goal over a minute later made it 3-1 Wells, but Lancaster Bible senior
Emily Martz scored with 18:29 to play in the first half to cut the deficit to 3-2. The Express would tack on four more goals in the first half and scored the first three goals of the second frame and the rout was on.
Martz scored again in the second half as did fellow senior
Ky-Leigh Hallman, but the Chargers never got back into the game and dropped to 1-10 overall and 1-3 in NEAC play.
Lancaster Bible goalie
Cheyenne Benson made nine saves in the loss, while
Brie Rotelle,
Naomi Otis and Wesner all had five ground balls and caused two turnovers. The Chargers also held a 12-9 advantage in draw controls as Martz led the way with five.
The Chargers will have little time to rest as they take on Keuka in Keuka Park, N.Y. on Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
