How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College women's lacrosse team won a physical contest, defeating Eastern University by a score of 15-11 on Tuesday, March 8.

After the Eagles (0-3 Overall, 0-0 MAC) got on the board first, the Chargers (4-0 Overall, 0-0 United East) tied the game at one with a goal from Katelynn Perrotta. Kendal Ream added a pair of goals and Lindsey Weaver found the back of the net off a free position shot to propel LBC to an early 4-1 lead. Weaver then scored another free position goal to maintain the lead for the Chargers, leading 5-2 with three minutes remaining in the first quarter. After Ream tacked on another score, Perrotta picked up a rebound from a Ream shot and netted her second goal of the game to send Lancaster Bible into the quarter break with a 7-3 advantage.

The Chargers opened the second quarter strong, with Amanda Allen dishing an assist to Perrotta for a score just 30 seconds into the quarter. Perrotta had a strong second quarter, adding two more goals in the period and capitalizing on an Eastern penalty to extend LBC's lead to six. The Eagles were able to add a goal at the end of the quarter, but the Chargers held a 10-5 lead at halftime.

Due to an injury, the Chargers played down players for most of the third quarter, having to make some adjustments on the field. Ream drew a foul for a free position shot within the first minute of the period, scoring the shorthanded goal for the Chargers. After Eastern scored two quick goals to cut the lead to four, Kayla Steiner found Perrotta for her sixth goal of the game, putting LBC up 12-7. Steiner dished another assist later in the quarter, finding Kym Kouterick for her first goal of the season. The Chargers entered the final quarter of play with a 13-9 lead.

The two teams combined to score just four goals in the final quarter, with several penalties causing each team to play down at various points. Weaver found the back of the net with 12 minutes remaining to give LBC a 14-10 lead. The Eagles cut the deficit to three with just eight minutes left, but Ream scored once again in the final minutes to put LBC up by four goals. The Chargers would go on to win by a score of 15-11.

Coaching Points
"I am incredibly proud of how our team responded playing down two players for the majority of the third quarter," said head coach Cheri Horst. "We had some players truly step up and take on new challenges, playing in positions that they were not accustomed to. While there were some things that I would like to see us clean up, I could not be happier with how we've responded to adversity as a team so far this season."

Historical Note
With her performance, Kendal Ream moved into 7th place all-time on the Chargers' scoring list, bringing her career total to 81 goals.
