How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College women's lacrosse team dropped a nonconference contest on the road to Immaculata University, losing by a score of 21-11 on Saturday, April 2.
After Immaculata (4-7 Overall, 0-1 Atlantic East) got on the board first, the Chargers (6-4 Overall, 1-1 United East) found the back of the net with
Kendal Ream finding
Kayla Steiner for a goal. Less than two minutes later, Ream scored off an assist from
Katelynn Perrotta to give LBC a 2-1 lead. The Mighty Macs scored a free position goal to tie the game, but Perrotta responded with a goal off a
Kym Kouterick assist. Three Chargers players netted a goal in the first quarter. Immaculata ended the quarter with three straight goals, with LBC trailing 5-3 at the quarter break.
The second quarter saw Immaculata open with five consecutive goals to extend their lead to seven. Perrotta ended the run with a goal, with Kouterick dishing her second assist of the game. Later in the quarter,
Molly Gray got her first assist of her collegiate career, finding Perrotta for a score and cutting the deficit to six. Immaculata tacked on another goal before half, with the Chargers trailing 12-5 at halftime.
The Mighty Macs scored the first three goals of the second half, but Ream ended the run with a free position goal to cut the lead to nine. At the end of the period, Perrotta scored off an assist from Ream, then Perrotta returned the favor, assisting Ream on a goal that made the score 16-8 entering the final quarter.
After falling behind by ten goals,
Katelynn Perrotta slashed to the goal for her fifth score of the game. Later in the quarter,
Amanda Allen drew a foul and found the back of the net for LBC's tenth goal of the game. Ream scored two minutes later to cut the deficit to eight. The Chargers could get no closer, falling 21-11.
