Lancaster Bible College and the Lancaster Bible College Athletic Department are pleased to announce Jackie Hoover has been named the eighth head coach in program history. Hoover replaces Cheri Horst who stepped down in May after eight seasons with the Chargers.
Â
Hoover, who served as an assistant coach under Horst during the 2020 and 2021 seasons, played collegiately during her time at Lebanon Valley College, and also earned a master's degree from Nyack College. In addition to her assistant coaching stint for the Chargers, Hoover has also served as an assistant coach at Nyack and Gordon College, and was the head coach of the Elizabethtown High School program for two seasons as well.
Â
"We are very excited to have Jackie join our team," Lancaster Bible Director of Athletics
Rod Baughman said. "We believe she brings a tremendous mix of excellence in the sport and care for our student-athletes. She is familiar with our program, she gets Lancaster Bible College, and resonates with our mission of impact. Her passion and educational background in mental health awareness and support will be a great addition to our department and will be a great support for our student-athletes."
Â
Hoover, who will serve as the full-time coach at Lancaster Bible, is excited for the opportunity to take over a program that has improved greatly over the past few seasons, including back-to-back conference playoff appearances.
Â
"I'm incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to serve as the next head women's lacrosse coach at Lancaster Bible College," Hoover said. "After coaching alongside Cheri for the past few years, it's been tremendous to see the program taken to a new level, and there are big shoes to fill. I am looking forward to seeing how the Lord continues to challenge us by using our gifts and talents to serve and honor him on the lacrosse field."
Â
Hoover will begin her coaching duties in the coming days, as the Chargers prepare for fall practice in anticipation for the 2023 season.
