Chargers Collect Six Total Weekly Honors

The United East Conference released their weekly award winners for last week on Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning, with the Chargers owning the release with a total of six athletes earning recognition. For Men's Basketball, junior Camden Hurst was named Offensive Player of the Week for the third straight week. For Men's Volleyball, junior Kevin Bryant earned Offensive Player of the Week and junior Devin Galloway earned Defensive Player of the Week, both their first career weekly honors. For Men's Indoor Track & Field, junior David Helms earned his third Track Athlete of the Week honor this season. Wrapping up with Women's Indoor Track & Field, junior Abby Ames earned her first Track Athlete of the Week honor and junior Elly Bruner earned Field Athlete of the Week for the second time in a row.
 
Hurst has had the hot hand all season for Lancaster Bible, leading the team with 20.9 points per game on over 57% shooting from the field. This week was no different as he scored 36 total points across two games, including 14 points in just 20 minutes at Gallaudet on Tuesday on 5-7 shooting, followed by a 22-point performance on Saturday against St. Mary's (Md.), shooting 10-15 from the field in 27 minutes. Hurst added nine total assists and seven total steals to highlight his weekly output, leading the Chargers to a 2-0 week with an average margin of victory of 38.5 points.
 
Bryant notched his first career weekly honor as he led the Chargers on Thursday night with 11 kills on 21 attacks for a .381 hitting clip, adding a service ace and six total blocks as well in LBC's five-set victory over (RV) Marymount (Va.). Kevin leads the team through two games in hitting percentage at .333 as well as total points with 22.5 and total blocks with nine. Bryant helped close out the win against the Saints with a block to seal the 15-13 set win, opening the Chargers' 2026 home slate with a big win.
 
Galloway showed up in a big way for the Chargers on Thursday night as he shined on defense with seven total blocks, setting a new career-high with two solo blocks and five block assists. Devin also added two kills and one dig as LBC took down the Saints in the Horst Athletic Center, earning him his first career weekly honor. He is second on the team through two games with eight total blocks and shares the team lead with Bryant in solo blocks with two.
 
Helms earned his third straight weekly honor of the season after his two top-3 finishes at the Alvernia Winter Invite on Saturday. David finished in second in the 5,000-Meters with a time of 15:14.96, trailing only unattached runner Aiden Gonder to make him the top collegiate finisher in the event. He also notched a third-place finish in the 3,000-Meters with a time of 8:54.39, breaking the LBC program record in the event by about half a second. Helms currently ranks first in the United East in the Mile, 3,000-Meters, and 5,000-Meters, as well as the top time in the NCCAA in the 5,000-Meters so far this season at 15:10.80 from back on December 5. David also cracks the top-50 in all of NCAA Division III in the 5,000-Meters, currently ranked 38th in the nation.
 
Ames took home Track Athlete of the Week for the first time as she placed in the top-15 in two events at the Alvernia Winter Invite on Saturday. Abby set a new personal record and qualified for NCCAA Championships in the Mile Run with a time of 5:39.34, placing 13th in the event and just four seconds off the school record. She also placed 14th in the 3,000-Meters with a time of 11:21.69, making the NCCAA-qualifying mark in the event. Ames now ranks first in the United East in both the Mile Run and the 3,000-Meters after this weekend's performances.
 
Bruner earned her second straight weekly honor as she placed in the top-10 in both the High Jump and the Triple Jump on Saturday at Alvernia. Her height of 1.60 Meters in the High Jump marked a season-best for Elly as she took home third in the event, then she jumped 10.80 Meters in the Triple Jump to place sixth. In the United East, Bruner ranks first in both the High Jump and Triple Jump and ranks second in the Long Jump. Additionally, Elly ranks second in the NCCAA in High Jump and third in Triple Jump, plus she makes the national ranks at 28th in all of NCAA Division III in the High Jump and ranks 41st in the nation in Triple Jump. Regionally, Bruner ranks first in the Mid-Atlantic in Triple Jump and second in High Jump.
 
For Hurst and the Men's Basketball team, the Chargers have two more conference games this week as they host Penn College in the Horst Athletic Center on Wednesday, January 21 at 5:00 p.m. followed by a road game at Valley Forge on Saturday, January 24 at 1:00 p.m. For Bryant, Galloway, and the rest of the Men's Volleyball team, they have three matches on the docket this week as they host Wilkes tonight at 7:00 p.m., then travel south to take on defending national champions and #4-ranked Southern Virginia on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., followed by a neutral site match with Bridgewater (Va.) at 4:00 p.m. As for Helms, Ames, Bruner, and the rest of the Indoor Track & Field teams, they are set to compete in the Coach I Invite at Franklin & Marshall College on Saturday beginning at 9:35 a.m.
