The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball program began in 2001 and was a club team for the first three years of its existence. In 2004, the team began playing as an intercollegiate varsity sport and has ever since, including playing four seasons (2008-11) in the now defunct North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA).
After playing as an independent for the 2012 season, the men joined the North Eastern Athletic Conference in 2013 as men's volleyball was added once again to the NEAC list of sports. The Chargers won the NEAC Regular Season Championship in 2013 before falling in the NEAC Final to Keuka. Lancaster Bible returned to the NEAC Final in 2014, but lost to SUNY Poly, 3-0.Â
After rebuilding the team in 2015 and 2016, the Chargers won 25 matches in 2017 and returned to the NEAC Playoffs for the first time since 2014. Lancaster Bible had its best season in program history in 2018, as the Chargers won the NEAC Championship, and advanced to the NCAA Division III National Tournament. Lancaster Bible then defeated 14th-ranked Rivier in the opening round, and advanced to the NCAA Div. III Quarterfinals, where they lost to eventual NCAA National Champion Springfield.Â
The Chargers set a new program-record for wins in a season in 2019 with 26, as the Chargers again won the NEAC Regular Season title, but were upset by Wells in the NEAC Final. Lancaster Bible defeated several nationally ranked teams during the year, and were ranked as high as 10th in the country during the season. Lancaster Bible was poised for an even better run in 2020, but the season was canceled after 20 matches due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The Chargers finished the season as the eighth-ranked team in NCAA Division III.
