Lincoln University, PA- Tuesday night, the women's volleyball team did what they haven't been able to do yet this season, come from behind to win. The Chargers battled back from a 2-1 deficit to, beat NCAA II, Lincoln University in five sets and increase their winning streak to three.
The Chargers found themselves in a familiar position trailing 2-1, after winning the first set 25-17 but then dropping the next two 21-25 and 16-25. The difference Tuesday was Lancaster bounced back in the fourth set jumping on the Lions early and holding a commanding lead of 18-8. Lincoln made a late rally to close within 21-18, but the Chargers were equal to the task and kept the Lions at bay, winning 25-20. Lancaster finished off the comeback in fine style taking the deciding set 15-8.
On offense, the Chargers were fueled by freshman setter Elissa Hunsberger's (Norristown, PA) well distributed twenty-two assists. Middle hitter Lauren Miller (Elizabethtown, PA) topped the kill column for the Chargers with eight.
Coach Mable was pleased with her team's performance said, “The ladies fought through poor individual performances to pull out a team victory over a scrappy Lincoln team.” Mable also noted superb defense in the back row by senior Hannah Noble (Littlestown, PA) and freshman Brittney Becker (Sykesville, MD) with fourteen and fifteen digs respectively. Middle Blocker Katie McAllister (Etters, PA) had another excellent night at the net with four blocks, and now has twenty-seven blocks over her last seven games.
Chargers return home on Thursday looking for number four in a row against Washington Bible at 7:00 pm.
