The 2012 Lancaster Bible College women's lacrosse season opened on Monday with a 16-7 loss against Albright.
After being down by just two, 7-5, at halftime, the Chargers couldn't withstand the constant Lion pressure and were outscored 9-2 in the second half.
Whitney Heise had three goals, while
Rebekah Weidel scored twice.
Ellie Hoover and
Akasha Kapp also scored for the Chargers.
Becky Meyer made eight saves in goal for LBC.
"We just ran out of gas in the second half," Chargers' Head Coach
Zach Freeman said. "Albright has some talented players and we couldn't match their speed in the second half."
Freeman thought the youth and inexperience of his team also played a part in the loss.
"Some of these ladies just played their first lacrosse team," Freeman said. "That isn't an excuse, it's just a matter of fact about our team. The ladies know they can perform better and we have a nice chunk of time before our next game to improve."
The Chargers' next game is not until March 17 when they host Rutgers-Camden at 1 p.m.
