The Lancaster Bible College women's lacrosse team opened North Eastern Athletic Conference play on Friday with a loss to Medaille, 21-13. After trailing by just one at halftime, 8-7, the Chargers tied the game at 9-9 and again at 11-11 in the second half, before the Mavericks pulled away with five straight goals midway through the second half.
Whitney Heise had seven goals and
Rebekah Weidel added six as the Chargers fell to 0-4 this season.
"We played better today than we did on Tuesday, but it seems like whenever we have a bit of a scoring drought, the other team scores at will," Chargers' Head Coach
Zach Freeman said. "We need to do a better job of limiting a team's chances when we are struggling offensively."
The Mavericks (2-2, 1-0 NEAC) out shot the Chargers, 34-26, while LBC won 18 of 33 face-offs.
"We're getting closer and playing better," Freeman said. "We just have to put it all together for 60 minutes."
LBC (0-4, 0-1 NEAC) has little rest before they get a chance to play for a full 60 minutes as they host SUNYIT on Saturday at 1 p.m. in another conference game.
