Coming off a poor performance at Penn St. Abington on Wednesday, the Lancaster Bible College women's lacrosse team was hoping to reverse its season long trend of playing well one half and not so much in the other. Though LBC lost twice, their mission was accomplished. The Chargers battled two of the top teams in the NEAC on Friday and Saturday and stood toe-to-toe with both Cazenovia and Morrisville State.

Cazenovia 15, Lancaster Bible 11
The Chargers jumped out to a 2-1 lead after six minutes, marking the first time all season that LBC has led after six minutes, which is something the team talked about prior to the game.
"We had been tied three times after six minutes, but never ahead," Chargers' Head Coach Zach Freeman said. "You can't win the game in the first six minutes, but you can make it very difficult on yourselves if you get behind by too many goals early on."
Not only did they lead 2-1, but after Whitney Heise scored with 14:44 remaining in the first half, the Chargers led 5-2. Cazenovia would not go away however and tied the game at 6-6 with 5:48 left in the first half. A late goal by Heise gave LBC a 7-6 lead at halftime.
"It was our best half of the season and not just because we had the lead, but because we were executing on offense and defense and we forced Cazenovia to do what we wanted for much of the half," Freeman said.
The Wildcats regrouped at halftime and scored seven of the first nine goals in the second half to take a 13-9 with 8:43 remaining. Rebekah Weidel scored two minutes later to make it 13-10, but it was not enough as the Chargers lost 15-11. Heise and Weidel each had five goals, while Ky-Leigh Hallman scored her fourth goal of the season.
Saturday, April 14:
Morrisville St. 21, Lancaster Bible 9
With the opening draw set for 18 hours after Friday's game ended, the Chargers came out a bit sluggish on Saturday and trailed, 5-0 less than eight minutes into the game. After a timeout, the Chargers scored four of the next five goals and trailed, 6-4 with 11:13 to play. After a Mustangs' timeout, the Chargers could not keep the momentum and went to halftime trailing, 10-5.
"The start hurt us, but give the ladies credit, they battled back and we played pretty well in the middle part of the first half," Freeman said. "We try and break each half down into five six-minute increments and I thought we played well in the second and third increment, but the first and fifth ones hurt."
Morrisville (6-4, 4-0 NEAC) continued its onslaught in the second half and again scored the first five goals of the half. LBC (0-12, 0-6 NEAC) did everything they could, but ran out of gas.
Weidel led LBC with five goals, while Heise had three goals. Annie Hoover scored her first collegiate goal as well for the Chargers.
LBC goalie Becky Meyer made 13 saves in the loss.
The Chargers are back in action on Monday night when they face Wesley in Dover, Del. at 7 p.m.
